The Department of Assamese, Haji Anfar Ali College (Doboka, Nagaon, Assam) was established with the college in the year 1986. The emergence of Haji Anfar Ali College is a landmark in the history of education in this obscure and remote corner of India. Since its establishment, the department of Assamese has been striving sincerely to spread higher education in Assam particularly in greater Doboka. The department of Assamese has three faculty members. Two of them are Associate Professor and one is Assistant Professor. They are Dr. Kabita Devi, M.A. PhD (Head), Mrs Tulika Goswami, M.A, and Dr. Abdul Malik M.A, Ph.D. All of them have participated in national and regional seminar as participant and presented several research papers, also participated as resource person. Some reference books on Assamese reference book in degree level have published by the faculty member of this department. The department of Assamese has produced many illustrious personalities including academicians and literate social workers.The department is publishing a handwriting yearly Assamese Magazine since six years and also pubishing a Wall Magazine yearly.It gives to the students opportunity of expression of their creativity.The department also started a mini museum of Assamese culture in this year. In future it will be enriched. The department has one departmental library with more than 200 numbers of book in Assamese literature and culture. Bachelor of arts (general), UG CBCS (Regular) course and major course offered by the department since 2000. A question bank is available in the department. The department of Assamese believes that edifying progress in the career of the students is possible only through a cordial relationship with the students. Special care is taken to ensure that students with average merit are making advancement in their courses. Beginning with the current academic session (2022-2023), the logbook is maintained online, along with the class attendance of the students, through the college website. Discussion on previous exam question papers are held on a regular basis to help the students better prepare for examinations. The Department of Assamese believes that edifying progress in the carrier of the students is possible only through a cordial relationship with them. Teachers always try to do their best to build a friendly rapport with students
